Do agents submit bogus advertisement to attract eyeballs and get people to call so that they can get contact numbers?

I am looking to rent a place and so far I've seen a couple of advertisements significantly below other current market price. In one example, the ad went up on Jan 18 and on Jan 19, the agent told me the place has been rented out.

Was the place ever really available? Or was it another Singapore real estate gimmick?
