Dear Property Experts,

I am going to be sent overseas by my company to work for more than 2 years, I have a HDB that has not yet completed the minimum occupancy period. The owners are my wife and I. I understand that i can apply to the HDB for my house to be rented out.

However, my parents and I were considering to include my parents in my occupier list and for them to stay in my house while renting out their private property.

1)Is this scenario possible? If it is not possible, can i apply for permit to rent out and rent it to them for 1 dollar etc?

2)Will my MOP run down while i am overseas if the first scenario is possible?

Hi you can invite your parent to stay at your place but you need to ensure that your parents have proof of documentation should there be any enforcement check.
You can also include them as occupier via HDB website using singpass however there are areas you need to take note of in the event that you include them as occupier.

Hi

Since you have not fulfilled your MOP, you are not allowed to lease your HDB, UNLESS approval is given by HDB.

Even with approval, the period that you are away, does not count in your MOP.

Letting your parents stay while you are away does not constitute renting.

Anyway there are a few options for you.

Hi
Yes you can let your parents stay while you are away. However if you are keen to rent out your house, you can write in to your designated town council for whole unit approval.
