Dear all,

Question on renting while overseas. I am SC posted abroad. Receiving my BTO keys in a couple of weeks but not back in SG for at least another 15-18 months. Is it possible to rent my HDB for a year without even living there?

Looking for an agent to help.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi,

Before engaging any agent to help you on this, you should write in to HDB to get approval to rent out the whole unit before meeting MOP.

Without HDB approval, no agents can help you with renting out the unit legally.

    Thanks for the response. I am SC, my wife is SPR. HDB website states "Only Singapore Citizens are allowed to sublet the entire HDB flat. Singapore Permanent Resident flat owners are not allowed to do so."

    Does this mean we cant get approval from HDB?
