Unfortunately no, SPR households have to sell away their HDB if they decide to buy private condo. It is HDB's regulation.

I would like to compliment Mr Ivan Ng for his professional work and effort.I sent my first post in Jan 2019 and Ivan replied promptly, so I have decided to contact Ivan for follow up. My EC was not ready for sale due to MOP (another 3 months from Jan) at that time and Ivan was able to give me advices on how to proceed from there. Initially we have decided to try to write to HDB for early sale but since it was only 3 months left, eventually we waited for another 3 months while we looked for our next property. Ivan was able to arrange for new property showroom appointment at a timely manner while helping us to list for our EC for sale. Best case scenerio is buy private property AFTER your family become a singapore household , will be able to buy private property and rent out the private property or your hdb .

Please note ABSD is payable for ALL nationalities When buying second property , however ABSD is lower if BOTH of you are singaporean .

As a SPR/SPR family, you will be required to sell off your HDB flat upon the purchase of a private residential property. However, it is still possible for SPR to own 2 properties at the same time.

Do take note that ABSD applies. For SPR's first property, it will be 5%. For second property, 15% applies.

HI,

Unfortunately this can't be done for PR. If you are going to obtain citizenship soon, then suggest that you wait first while keeping an update on the property market.

Perhaps you can share more with me what your plan so we can find the best solution for you.

HDB is a 99 years asset and most likely will depreciate over the years, thus it will be good if i can know the reason to keep the HDB.
