You will need approval from the management and subsequently authorities in order to do so as building additional bathrooms will require additional sewage and pipings that may affect the building plans. Read More

Hi there!

- You can add an additional toilet in a private apartment, but it requires approval from the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).
- You’ll also need to engage a Qualified Person (QP), such as an architect or engineer, to submit the necessary plans.
- The MCST may need to approve as well, especially if the works affect common areas or structural integrity.
- If you’re altering water or drainage systems, you must get approval from PUB (Public Utilities Board) too.
- It’s important to check the terms of your management bylaws for any specific condo regulations.

Thank you.

Yes, you can typically add an additional toilet in a private apartment, but certain approvals are required:

1. **Approval from the Management Corporation (MCST):** You will need to seek permission from the MCST, as they oversee the management of the building and must ensure that any renovations comply with the building's regulations and guidelines.

2. **Building Plan Submission:** You may need to submit a renovation proposal or building plan to the relevant authorities, such as the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) or Building and Construction Authority (BCA), depending on the scope of the work.

3. **Contractor Requirements:** Ensure that the contractor you hire is licensed and experienced in handling such renovations, as they will need to follow safety and building codes.

4. **Possible Strata Title Implications:** If the apartment layout changes, there could be implications for strata title documentation, so it's good to confirm with a legal advisor.

Before proceeding, it's advisable to check your apartment’s specific guidelines and consult with the MCST to understand all requirements and ensure a smooth renovation process.
