If you have stayed in the hdb for 5 years or more, yes it looks possible based on the initial details shared, since you can manage the 20% downpayment. You may want to consider deferred payment scheme as the loan payments will only come in during TOP period, but the price will be slightly higher. Thereafter when you sell off your hdb and the sale proceeds return, you can use them to pay down the EC bank loan and also resale levy (if applicable).

May I know if you are referring to Hundred Palms Residences EC? I am part of the Developer's Appointed Team and quite familiar with ECs so will be glad to share more on the best approach for the upgrade. Is it possible if we can meet up at the showflat to discuss further?

Hi Terry,

It is good to know that you have saved enough for the 20% for the initial downpayment.

However, to determine if you are able to afford it, you will also need to find out how much you can loan. Your loan eligibility depends on 2 other factors:

1) your AGE
2) your Income (subjected to MSR/TDSR requirements)

By knowing the maximum loan that you can take, you can now plan your finances, and determine if you should proceed with the EC purchase.
