Yuan Ching Road is located in Jurong West town built in 1974 which was initially dominated by thick jungles, swamps and low hills but eventually it got converted into a major industrial area by the plethora of developmental projects and influx of workers from the nearby Boon Lay industrial area and Corporation Road. The HDB estates have been providing sustainable and comfortable living spaces to the tourists as well as the local residents for generations here. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) intends to convert it into a major commercial hub so many rejuvenation works are planned in the future.
