With 170 residential units spread across four low-rise residential blocks and three exclusive two-storey townhouses, The Verandah Residences capitalises on District 5’s evergreen appeal. The freehold condominium project, which sits on the former site of Redwood West, is also a testament to how firms such as Oxley Holdings are still offering thoughtfully developed properties in prime locations.
Situated off peaceful Pasir Panjang Road, each block at The Verandah Residences embraces the elegant architecture of the surrounding enclave, combining the colonial history of nearby shophouses with contemporary references to its newer neighbours. Unit sizes range from one-bedroom residences, which provide 463 square feet of living space, to the four-bedroom townhouses, which provide up to 2,174 square feet of living space.

Colonial hints come in the form of the tasteful black-and-white facades and the eponymous verandahs, courtesy of renowned firm DP Architects. Moreover, the gently overhanging roofs and Juliet balconies are both stylish and functional, encouraging natural ventilation through the open interiors, while sheltering the verandahs from rain and direct sun rays. The common facilities also take on the colonial theme – from the tiles in the swimming pool to the standalone barbecue and dining pavilion, which makes use of traditional-style white screens.
“The Verandah Residences by Oxley Holdings Ltd deconstructs the classic architecture of colonial black-and-white bungalows and reinterprets this into a modern apartment defined by spacious balconies, Juliet balconies, and seamless connectivity with the outdoors; nostalgically echoing the history of Pasir Panjang,” the judges of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) noted.
The interiors further develop the colonial premise, fusing traditional British style with tropical sensibilities. Whitewashed walls are complemented by black fittings and neutral grey hues throughout, timber is incorporated into the kitchen, and traditional patterned tiles provide the bathrooms with a nostalgic uniqueness. Capturing the essence of heritage gardens, native trees and large accent plants dot the landscape while secluded spaces and sunken planters provide peaceful outdoor retreats for residents.
About Oxley Holdings Ltd
A relative newcomer to Singapore’s highly competitive property development sector, Oxley Holdings has rapidly cemented its reputation as one of the country’s most innovative companies since its inception in 2010. The Group made its transfer of listing to the SGX Mainboard in February 2013 and has gone from strength to strength on a local level — with more than 40 properties — and internationally with a foothold currently in nine countries around the world.
In addition to the Group’s CEO, Ching Chiat Kwong being awarded the prestigious Real Estate Personality of the Year at the 2017 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore), the developer was recognised in the Best Office Architectural Design for Oxley Tower in the same year. This year however proved to be Oxley’s most successful Awards evening yet, with the Group taking home some four trophies, including Best Heritage Development for 1953 and Best New Private Condo Architectural Design for The Verandah Residences.
