Hi,

You can write in to HDB to appeal and approval may be granted on case by case basis. Otherwise, you have to remove your names from the overseas property after buying the HDB flat. Please note that citizenship application outcome may also take at least 6 months, hence if you can't wait that long you may wish to consider resale HDB instead. Thanks and hope to assist further.

Good morning Chee Kien,

In order to purchase a BTO, you need to dispose off your private property in Malaysia and observe a 30 months waiting period before you can apply if one of you turn Singapore citizen.

Alternatively, I will suggest you to purchase a resale HDB instead so you wont have to adhere to the 30 months waiting period. But I will recommend you to seek for permission to hold on to overseas private property first before committing to a purchase.
