My landlord refuses to return my deposit and charges me for the repair of the house. The house is 15 years old and I have been living there for 5 years. She has never sent a handyman during my tenancy despite my request but now that I am leaving, she says she is going to deduct the deposit to repaint the house, replace old items and polish the floor. Is the landlord entitled to use the tenant's deposit for all the repair and maintenance of the house? What should I do to stop her from charging me unfairly?
