Give the agent due credit for finding this tenant in the first place where there is a possibility of doing renewal in a market where there are many vacant units awaiting tenants. Just imagine if your tenant decides to leave and you have to put up the unit in the market to search for new tenants, the loss may not only be the service fees payable to the salesperson, but the costs of reinstating the premises as well as possibility of leaving it empty for a period of time resulting in loss of rental.
We know the economical situation is not rosy, it is not rosy for you, it is not rosy for everyone too. We all have our bills to attend to therefore if the service fees is indeed a big concern for you, why not talk to your salesperson and discuss for a lesser amount? I am quite sure you can derive a win win situation if the salesperson is genuine in making things work?
