My boss is considering to buy a 3 bedroom apartment under his personal name for vacation purposes (maybe once a few months). He is foreigner (no working visa, etc). What is the procedures? Could he apply utilities under his personal name? How could he maintain this apartment?

Good morning!

Yes, he can purchase a Singapore property as a foreigner.

For utilities - that is not an issue

For maintenance of the house - he can always hire a helper to go there for cleaning service.

Morning!

Do inform him that as a foreigner, he will be subject to 15% additional buyer's stamp duty on top of the estimated 3% buyer's stamp duty. Thus initial cash outlay will be 20% downpayment (provided he obtains a 80% bank loan) and 18% stamp duties.

As for utilities, he can subscribe to SP services as owner while for maintenance, he can arrange for cleaning company to provide their services on a monthly basis.
