Hi Tan,

The meaning of CONTRA is HDB dealing is to allow one party while selling his HDB using HDB loan and buying the next HDB also using HDB loan. Only 1 party in the entire transaction is allowed to do contra. In contra, the advantage is that the party does not need to wait for 2 separate HDB appts for selling and buying and therefore he has a time advantage of allowing his sales proceed to come in and pays for the next purchase all in the same HDB appt. However, the cash outlay for his next purchase (the COV and deposit) still has to be in cash.
