Asked by
I'm a single 40 local with 120k cash savings, no cpf, monthly basic pay 3.8k, hold no debt or loan, currently own no property. I'm looking to have my own place to live in next 4 to 6 months. Is a studio condo beyond me? My preference is location near mrt station or bus interchange and amenities like ntuc supermarket. Practically what is the price range of properties I should be looking at? Or I should only be looking at hdb rentals?

Good morning! Based on mathematical calculation, with a $120k to cover 20% downpayment and estimated 3% buyer's stamp duty, you should be able to afford a $521k property. With this $521k quantum, most likely this property will be a new launch. Will you be keen in owning your own property rather than paying for other people's mortgage (rental unit)? Hope to hear from you soon! I can ask my banker to advise you on your in principle approval too. Cheers! YT Tan ECG Property 9111 5171  yt.lovelyhomes@gmail.com Read More

Afternoon, Assuming that your credit record is healthy, you should be able to look into property of around $500k. Since you need a place within the next 4 to 6 months, resale HDB should be a better choice. With the estimated budget, you can look into 3 to 5 room flat, depending on location and sizing. Do feel free to contact me for further discussion. Regards Mike Lim 96929209  m52i@yahoo.com ERA Read More

Hi... based on your financial info provided, you will be able to look for a private apt in the range of $530k, this will enable you to sufficiently cover the 20% downpayment, stamp duty and lawyer fees while the remaining 80% is likely to be approved from the bank. You may also want to consider HDB purchase as they will likely meet your requirement for amenities. Do drop me a call to discuss your purchase plans moving forward and we can start your home search in the most efficient way. Thank you and have a pleasant day ahead.
