If i just bought an new flat from HDB with my brother recently. i didn't know that i have the change to know my soul mate, he wanted to buy a house here. he is from Scotland. i am in headache how shall we go about it

Your partner can purchase private property in SG as foreigner. He is eligible for leasehold condo. 15% ABSD is payable.

Hi,

He can purchase a private property here if he wishs to. Stamp duties of 18% apply with 20% downpayment, provided he can get 80% loan. Thanks and hope to assist further

Good morning Vickie,

As you need to fulfil your minimum occupation period of 5 years before you will be eligible to purchase a private property thus your alternative will be purchasing a private property solely under your boyfriend's name.

But do take note that he is a foreigner thus he will be subject to 15% additional buyer's stamp duty.

If not, you can try to appeal to HDB to see whether can you remove your name from your current property. It will be on a case by case basis.
