I just rented a whole unit and one of the electrical appliances was broken right after the first week that I moved in.
So I informed the landlord and they asked to come over to take a look (the appliance is in the living room), to which I agreed. They then went into my bedroom to do other maintenance works which we didn't discuss and didn't agree upon beforehand. Now the landlord is telling me that I have too many stuff and that I should tidy up, and that they would like to come back and check at a later date.
Is this usual for whole unit rental? If it's a room rental then I think it's more understandable, but this is a whole unit rental and my understanding is that the owner should have no say in how I have my things as long as I return the unit in good condition later, and if not, they can use the deposit to deduct for whatever damages caused.
Would appreciate any clarifications or comments, because I feel like my privacy has really been violated and a lack of respect from the landlord.
Many thanks
