Hi Mr. Peter,

There are 2 types of HDB flats that you have to take note:
(1) BTO HDB flat
(2) Resale HDB flat

The difference between the two are, (1) is a subsidized, (2) is open market.

Thus there are different requirement:
For type 1, you need to dispose off your private property for 30 mths before application.
For type 2, you need to dispose off your private property within 6 mths upon completion of resale process.

The answer is "Yes" for both types.

Yes, you can still purchase a HDB in future, either when you get married, or buying as a single above 35 years old.

However, do take note that you will need to sell off your private condo latest within 6 months completion of your HDB purchase.

It is a good decision to start investing in a property from young so that you can ride on the property cycle and build your wealth!

If you wish to purchase a BTO in the future, you will need to first satisfy the family nucleus criteria and also observe a waiting period of 30 months after selling your private property.

However, if you wish to purchase a resale HDB, there will not be any issue. You will just need to dispose off your private property within 6 months of purchase under the current rules and regulations.

Hi Mr Tan,

Yes, after owning a private property, the option of buying a hdb in future is still open.

If you were to get a BTO, you would need to dispose off your private property and wait for 30 months before applying. You could get a 2-room BTO flat at 35. Anything larger than a 2-room, you'd need to satisfy the criteria of forming a family nucleus in order to own one.

Alternatively, you may get a resale HDB, where there is no restriction in the size for singles at 35. You would need to dispose off your private property 6 months after the completion of your HDB flat purchase.
