I am now applying for Singapore Citizenship. I would like to buy a property. I would like to know at which point am I considered a SC and would not need to pay ABSD? Is a in-principle-approval sufficent, or do I need to have the formal approval letter which will be sent to me after I complete the citizenship Journey sharing at CC? Or do I have to complete the renunciation process to be not liable for ABSD? Can anyone please advise?

Hi,

In-Principal-Approval is insufficient for you to avoid the ABSD.

The processes are such:
(1) Receive IPA
(2) Collection of temporary ID after solemnization.
(3) Collection of passport (2 weeks after solemnization)

You may only offer deposit in exchange of OTP after collection of passport to avoid the ABSD.
