I am currently staying in bukit batok 4rm flat and thinking of buying over the 3-rm next unit to convert into a jumbo flat. what are the things i should consider? and what is the procedure like? should I get approval from HDB first before committing to the purchase? Will HDB allow me to partition up the living rm and convert it to a bedroom?

Afternoon Celine,

You are required to fill up the application form for conversion scheme and submit it to Bukit Batok HDB Branch office. The technical officer will work on the case and revert back to you. As per ruling, conversion scheme are more for 3 room flat to 3 room flat.

As for building up of extra room by converting the kitchen, I have seen it being done on other units before. However, it's still subjected to approval when your contractor applies for the permit.

Whatever it is, your first step now is to send in your application form to HDB branch office and talk to your neighbor.
