I am considering to "decouple" with my husband so that he can purchase the 2nd condo as his 1st property. Say our current property worth 1m and he will transfer his share to me as a form of gift. How much stamp duty do I need to pay for buying his share of 50%? The current condo is our 1st property. Thanks.

I saw from IRAS website, the stamp duty will be 5400 + 3% of the remaining.

But some agents told me I've to pay ABSD because the 50% share that I'm taking over from my husband will be considered as my 2nd property? Which I doubt so, can you advise?

Good evening,

You will have to pay the estimated 3% buyer's stamp for the 50 % ownership transferred.

If you want a clearer idea of it, I can forward you a powerpoint slides provided by one of the property conveyancing firms.

Do contact me if you need any assistance or advice in decoupling or any property needs. Cheers!

Warmest Regards,

Hi,

Stamp duties payable is 3% of transferred price or market value of 50% share (whichever higher). Seller stamp duties apply if the property is held less than 4 years. Will be glad to share whether decoupling is an viable option to achieve your property objectives. May I discuss with you further?

Warm regards,
