Hi Mr Chan, nope it’s not really early and timing is just nice. As the HDB resale market is still soft and would need a longer time than usual to get a HDB unit sold. So it’s good to start the marketing and advertising earlier before the MOP like what I would advice my hdb seller facing the same issue. And besides, if the buyer is really keen with your unit, they would be happy and willing to wait for just a short few months. Pls feel free to let me know if you need any assistance.

1st step should be understanding and affirm your objectives.
Understanding your finances, on how much you can loan, and what kind of prices will you be looking at, factoring in the prices,BSD and ABSD, lawyer Fees etc. how much cash is needed.

Affirming your objectives, for investment or relocating to the new purchase while leasing out the current. (New projects / Resale). really depends on your objectives.

Your plans should begin with a detailed look into your finances, how much will you be able to get back after the sale of your existing HDB as well as your loan eligibility. There could even be a potential for you to look into selling your existing HDB and purchasing 2 private properties (1 for own stay and 1 for rental income), without stretching your finances.

These can be done during the lead up to MOP, such that when MOP arrives, you will be all ready to go. Heading to showflats can be premature, but that is only in the interest of the salesperson but if you have a better understanding of how the real estate market is like, what are the type of units available, this can be helpful in your planning decisions.
