Hi, my wife is a PR. We have a HDB flat bought in 2007 and a private condo bought in 2010. Both houses are under mortgage and on joint tenancy. We would like to buy a 2 bedroom condo for investment and rent it out. I'm wondering if we would be forced to sell our HDB if we buy another unit since my wife is a pr ?

HI Abish, if you are a Singapore Citizen, you're household is considered as a Singapore Citizen Household, even if your spouse is a PR.

Hence you may purchase additional condo, but you are aware that you are required to pay the additional buyer stamp duty (ABSD), on your 3rd property, of 10%.

However if you are also a PR, then you are not permitted to retain your HDB if you choose to buy another condo because of the latest cooling measures.

Please contact me so that I can explain to you the latest cooling measures personally and how it would affect you,

cheers,
