Hi, my TA includes an option to renew for another 12 months (original lease is 24 months with 12 months renewal option). We informed the landlord to extend our lease for another 12 months but they insist for us to extend for another 24 months instead. We can't do anything more than 12 because of current evolving COVID situation.
Landlord doesn't provide any reason for why he doesn't honor the agreement, but only insist that he accepts if we extend to 24 months. What if:
i) they insist for us to extend for 24 months, or vacate; or
ii) allow to extend (since they are bounded by the agreement), but asked for an unreasonable rental - assuming above 30% from current rental
What are the rights do we have as a tenant?
