My husband and I have recently received our PR status. We are planning to buy our 1st property in Singapore. What are our options ?
We have being living in Singapore for 3 years now. We do not own any other properties here.

Hi Lisa,

You will only be eligible for new or resale condo. Do note that 5% ABSD applies as well. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

To buy a HDB resale flat, you and you hubby need to be a SPR for 3 years.

At this moment, you are eligible to buy a private condominium.

Good afternoon Lisa,

You are not eligible to purchase a HDB even though both of you stay in Singapore for more than 3 years because you have to be SPR for at least 3 years individually in order to be eligible.

Therefore both of you can look into the exciting private housing. Perhaps you can share more on your finances with me so I will be in a better position to advise you futher.

Do take note you will be subject to 5% additional buyer's stamp duty as a SPR.

It is a good time to start searching for a property to purchase now as prices have stabilized or even bottomed out as I see increased market activities recently. Sentiments have become more upbeat and I wont be surprised if prices will start to head north soon!

Since both of you have just received your SPR, you will only be eligible for resale EC or condo projects. If both of you are looking at HDB unit, you will have to wait for 3 more years. Do note that ABSD of 5% is payable on the purchse.
