Hi Andrew!

Normal duration for HDB resale completion is about 3 months.

We can start marketing your unit once you have collected the EC keys. 3 months is good enough to do your renovation (3/4 weeks if not max 8 weeks) plus shifting of furnitures. Bear this in mind this 3 months does not includes your marketing and viewing period.

I will say let's play safe cause sometimes key collection date might be delayed. It's better to have a roof over head rather than nothing while waiting for a new home.

But if you are really keen in selling at this very moment and you are pretty confident that you might not receive a better price in future compared to now plus you have an alternative accommodation (your parents' place) till your keys collection, you can rethink about your sale plans.

Hi Andrew,

To give you a more practical timeline, assume that you have a buyer for your current place now and have already exercised the Option To Purchase for your HDB, the earliest 1st appointment date which can be applied for is in mid Octobber 2012, for which typical completion date to be 6 weeks after 1st october, you could be looking to complete the sale of your HDB by end December 2012.

Supposedly cash proceeds for your sale is important to assist you for renovation works and all, you need to start planning the timing involved as it sounds easy on paper to plan but in reality, things could go differently. No hurry. You can sell your HDB after you receive your keys to EC.

You are given 6 mths to sell, a committed agent will only need 2~3 mths to sell your HDB. Keep my number and call me once you have taken the keys for your EC.
