Hi. I am a Singaporean. My husband is a foreigner (non- SGP/PR) status. I own a HDB with my parents which is almost ending loan soon. I am just wondering am I eligible to buy a condo with my husband? I understand no EC. And if yes, will I be looking at the foreigner rate or local rate? Like the stamp duty etc. Am I able to purchase it with my name alone and paying all local rates and financing it with my CPF as well? What is a guideline of cash upfront we looking at if we are after a 2-bedded condo? We don't mind matured condos :)

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

You will be eligible to purchase a condo with your husband once you have fulfilled the MOP of your HDB.

No problem if you choose to purchase solely under your name at an ABSD of 7% as it will be 15% if property is purchased under both names.

Downpayment is 20% (5% cash 15% CPF/ cash) as you dont have any outstanding loan and if the bank is granting you 80% loan, as for CPF funds, you must set aside half of the minimum sum (SA and OA) first before you can use the excess for 15% CPF or the stamp duties.

Maybe you can share with me more information of your case then I see whether can I further advise you.

Cheers!
