Asked by
Hi gurus,

Looking to sell my current 4room flat. My parents are co-owners and I'm the owner. Both of them passed 55yrs old and my dad is still working. We took a bank loan for buying this house.

Can you advise when after selling this house, how will the sales proceed (cash) be split? Will we need to use them to top up my parents' retirement account?

Thanks for taking the time to review my question.

Good afternoon Steven,

With the sales on your current unit, the CPF contributed will be returned to their respective CPF account, inclusive of interest. As for the cash proceed, it will be issued out by cheque. All the co-owners of the unit will need to open an joint account for the cheque to be en-cashed. Your parents do not need to top up their CPF account with the cash proceed.
