Hi. Currently I have a 3 room HDB flat which I already pay off, which mean full settlement. I get a job in Korea for at least 4 to 5 years. I'm thinking to sell my house then use the CPF and CASH to buy a private condo for investment. I need advice. Should I sell my HDB or wait for 6 to 1 years later while I settle down in korea

Hi Hishman,

There are just so many differing opinions and options for you. In my very own opinion, we are never sure of what the future holds for you or I'd say the real estate market. Rental of a HDB in Singapore is good now, and looks even rosier with the SPR now ineligible to rent their units out, meaning you have fewer competitors in the market to seek tenants, and with lesser supply and same demand, you can probably look at better returns.

Since you will also be purchasing a private condo unit after the sale of your HDB, are you going to rent out your private condo as well? Dealing with rental can provide you unnecessary headaches too, as you maybe worried of bad tenants messing up the place and distracting you from your exciting career in Korea. Instead of putting your money back into residential market, you may also consider putting the proceeds into purchasing a property in Korea if it permits? As I have mentioned, there are simply plenty of options for you. Choose 1 which suits your current situation most as we cannot read into the crystal ball to know what will happen tomorrow.
