Hi All, please advise how best to get a property agent to help in the purchase of a private residential property (to act for the purchaser). Many agents would respond to initial queries but then don't seem to follow through. Would it be easier if I do most of the legwork in shortlisting the properties/listings I am interested in and provide these to the agent?

    It is understandable that there are instances where agents might not be able to assist based on purchaser's specific requirements but it would have been nice to at least be informed as such and not left hanging waiting for replies that never come.

I guess most important is to find one who will take the time to understand your requirements and be able to narrow down the properties that are of a good fit. Also to draw up a financial plan and understand in detail what you are lookinh for. Sometimes it could also be that buyer requirements are too broad or not realistic for current market dynamics.
