Hi all, first time private property investor (Singaporean) seeking advice on property investment in SG:
- Am looking to purchase a 1 bedroom condo for investment, budget around 1mil. (no hdb loan so up to 80% LTV)
- Interested in districts like D15/16 as well as central locations D'leedon new launch at D10.
- Investment Objectives in terms of priority is to: 1) hold for capital appreciation (upon top) and 2) rental yield. Therefore, location and rental demand are key considerations towards purchase.

Would appreciate advice on:
1) Available options on investment
2) Is this the right time to invest in private property in Singapore?

Hi,

my five cents worth is that usually, it is better to buy direct from developers as they offer better chances of capital appreciation. The areas u are looking at (D10/15/16) have been the more popular districts to live in and should remain so in the future. Therefore, you can be assured that rental yield will be good as there is a always a demand.

As to yr other question, we will only know on hindsight if this is the best/right time to invest in private property. My view is that if u have excess cash, you shld let yr money work for you. Investing in property is still one of the safest instead of leaving it in the bank gaining paltry interest.
