Hello to all
My hubby and I have a yearly salary of more than $50K a year. We are waiting for our hdb sale in five months's time. By then, we would have about more than $200k cash. Looking for shophouse for staying and to rent out part of it at the same time. But the prices are rocket high and need some advice whether to purchase other commercial for rental income and purchase another residential for our own use. Not sure also whether banks would give us a good loan as we are around 40 to 50 of age group.

Dear madam,

Based on your cash component available for the purchase in time to come, I reckon that a shophouse unit is out of reach based on the loan amount required, which in this case would it still make sense for you to sell your existing place?

As mentioned, purchasing a shophouse may be challenging with the numbers we are working with. How about a dual-key condo? You can rent out the studio component while staying at the main unit, but its considered a single property purchase. I'll be glad to recommend the value-buys n the vicinity which you are considering.
