Hello, I’m a SC, and my boyfriend is a foreigner who may pursue a PhD around the time we plan to buy a resale flat. We’re both under 30 and are intending to ROM before purchasing a 4-room resale flat.

He plans to apply for PR eventually, but it’s unlikely he’ll obtain PR before we purchase the flat. I've been working for about 2 years now.

I’d like to understand:
- What housing grants we may be eligible for as an SC + foreign spouse couple buying a resale flat
- Whether there are any restrictions or considerations in our situation
- The type and amount of housing loan we may likely qualify for under our situation

Would appreciate any advice or insights from those familiar with similar cases.

Hi

To be eligible, you guys have to complete the ROM first to purchase under non-citizen spouse scheme.

If your total household income exceeds $14k per month, unfortunately there will be no grants available and also HDB loan will not be possible.

The attainable loan depends on your monthly income and age, as well as any monthly installments. Since only the SC can be the owner, only your income details will be recognized for loan assessment.
