Dear all, I'm an aspiring agent & wish to ask some burning Qs:
1. What guidelines/advice would u give to some1 who wants to start off a career?
2. For someone who has family commitments, how best should they start off if they wish to retain family weekend time?
3. Which sector of the market to focus on? New launches? HDB? Condo? Landed? Commercial? Rental?
4. Finally... thinking longer-term: there seems to be low barriers to swtiching companies. How to build a team without your agents migrating? What kind of over-riders can a team/agency leader expect?

Hello Aspiring Advisor..

I think the answer to your question is a very simple one. It really is not about the agency you join, OR about the focus that you start in. But everything about WHO you join.

Interviewing your prosepective mentor is probably the most important step in determining success or failure in your business.

When I first joined this business, some of my peers had a mentor who left them very much on their own. Today, they spend a lot of time at home with not much success. I was very fortunate to have met a mentor who on my third day on the job closed a property worth $1.4mil.

Similarly, when you one day become a mentor, ask yourself, "What value do you bring to your associates?" If the answer is "Little" or "nothing", then how will you expect them to stay? The converse is also true for good leaders!
