Currently we have rent a room from Master tenants. before rent it, they inform us will do the proper register into HDB. BUt 2 month later, we found out, they didn't register properly (owner may dont know us rent the place). So we inform them we have to move due to no proper register (no any signed agreement just a simple whatspp message said that if want to move out need to give 1 month notice). we inform them we can give 1 month notice but all must go by legal way. Then convesation break up and landlord request master tenant vacant the unit and to forfeit the deposit.
Then the master tenant tell us our depost forfeit too. We cannot understand that landlord didn't received our deposit and register us. how can they forfeit the deposit. Do master tenant have right to forfeit our deposit. Any suggestion for us
