Asked by Worried Mom
Can I withdraw?
I bought a 4 room corridor flat in Woodlands. The flat got 4 bedrooms. Owner build the forth room from part of the living room.
When we questioned the owner if the alteration was approved, owner said his contractor applied for permit when they did the entire renovation to the house 8 years ago.
Before we sign the contract, their agent go through the contract and told us that if there is any unauthorised renovation work, then the owner will have to make good.
After we register to HDB, we were informed that the room is not approved and owner have to remove it. I am not happy with this because I really wanted a unit with 4 bedrooms.
I told my agent that I want to cancel and want my deposit back. My agent said I cannot withdraw because it will be breaking the contract. But if I continue, I will not get the same unit like what I wanted in the beginning.
Hope the gurus can share with me your ideas.
