Hi Melvyn, for private unit you are free to do so but under HDB ruling, it is an offense as the new owner could only rent out the whole unit upon staying for 5 full years (MOP). But what you could do is to lengthen the completion date and negotiate with the buyer. Pls feel free to let me know if you need any assistance. Dear Melvyn, The regulations forbid you from doing so. Do you require the funds for the sale of your HDB flat to make purchase? What Aaron has suggested will probably be the best choice if you do not require the cash proceeds from your sale to facilitate the purchase and renovations. Dear Mr. Melvyn Lim, Your case is quite common actually as usually one either accurately factors in his renovation period in his sale completion, delays submission of 1st Appointment, or requests buyer if he could allow to allocate one room to accommodate your belongings. Under HDB Rule, one who has bought a HDB flat is not allowed to rent out the entire whole unit within 5 years of purchase. Call me @ (65) 98765130 or email 98765130tctan@gmail.com. I'm sure I could help. Read More
