Google search ‘Marine Parade condo for rent’, and you will get a list of condos that are popular among expatriates in Singapore. Trouble is, condos located in District 15 near East Coast Park don’t come cheap, with rents exceeding those of many suburban areas elsewhere.

That’s hardly surprising considering that the East Coast is one of the most popular areas to live in. And for good reason too: it’s close to East Coast Park and the area boasts some of the best waterfront condos with sea views in Singapore. Furthermore, most of the condos in the area were built between the 1980s and early 2000s, which means that they’re built big.

In fact, according to realtors that we spoke to, seafront properties in the East Coast have become more popular among renters during the pandemic, as more opt for homes that are closer to nature.

According to PropertyGuru’s Singapore Property Market Report Q1 2022, the rental market has been booming despite the pandemic still being in full swing, with both rental prices and demand at a 3-year high, and rental supply at a 3-year low.

Take heart, however. Although renting a condo in the East Coast area may be expensive, it doesn’t mean that you can’t find a unit on a budget.

Cheap Condo for Rent in Singapore

After Singapore experienced its biggest drop in population since 1950 in 2020, the rental market recovered quickly and now shows no signs of abating.
The spike in demand can partly be attributed to HDB BTO construction delays and an increasing want for more personal space and independence, which have pushed some into the rental market in the interim.
