Singapore developer GuocoLand recently said it has started construction work on its mixed-use development along Beach Road.
Dubbed Guoco Midtown, the integrated project will have a total gross floor area (GFA) of around 950,500 sq ft. The project will comprise the conserved Beach Road Police Station, 30,000 sq ft of retail and entertainment space, 770,000 sq ft of premium Grade A office space, and over 200 prime residences.

Located within the City Hall office micro-market, residents and workers in the development will have access to four MRT lines – East-West Line, Downtown Line, North-South Line and the Circle Line. With these, they can travel to Marina Centre and Bugis, as well as other parts of Singapore. In fact, Guoco Midtown will have direct underground access to Bugis MRT interchange and above ground links to projects within the vicinity.
Aside from having stunning views over Orchard Road, Kallang Basin, Marina Bay and the sea, the project is accessible via major arterial roads like Nicoll Highway and upcoming North-South Corridor.
“Our Guoco Tower has uplifted the image of the Tanjong Pagar District; it is now perceived as a prime office location and leisure destination in the Central Business District. In the same way, Guoco Midtown will redefine the Beach Road area by introducing trend-setting concepts for office, retail and residential. It will also have some unique public spaces which will attract many people to Guoco Midtown,” said GuocoLand Group President and CEO Raymond Choong.
Moreover, the developer is upbeat that firms in Guoco Midtown will have the advantage of attracting top talents.
“Forward-looking companies wanting to attract more creative talents often move to midtown type locations because such talents prefer to work in more vibrant and fun districts. Guoco Midtown is a future-ready and ‘best-in-class’ development that will support the new way of working and living, and will elevate the positioning of the district,” said Cheng Hsing Yao, Group Managing Director of GuocoLand Singapore.
Guoco Midtown’s full concept and design will be announced by the first half of 2019, and the entire project is expected to be completed by H1 2022.
