Would appreciate if someone could enlighten me on this following issue.

My wife owns a HDB unit 5 years before we got married. She bought it when she was single and listed her mum as an essential occupier. Her mum's name is no longer listed now and my name is yet to be included. It has been about 5 years since we are married and 10 years since she has the house. We've since paid off the mortgage loan in full. We have a 3 yr old twins. Now my question is, am I able to purchase a private condo solely under my name and will I be able to avoid the ABSD considering my name is not in the HDB house that is currently only under my wife's name? Yes, as long as your name is not registered as an owner, you are able to purchase a private condo. Since the private condo will be your first property, there will not be ABSD, provided you are a Singapore Citizen.

Good morning,

As long as your name is not included as the owner of the hdb, yes you are deemed not to have own any property at the moment. If you are SC and since you have no other property at the moment, you can purchase private condo as 1st residential property without ABSD.
