Hi Shu Min,

To qualify for new EC, you need to purchase with another single citizen 35 years old and above. Not sure if you meant that when you posted the query. If its for own stay, definitely hdb is a more prudent option but for investment wise, maybe not.

Hi Shu Min,

If you qualify for an EC, you should definitely go for an EC because in the long run, its upside potential is definitely greater as compared to a HDB flat. ECs are essentially condos that are subjected to certain rules and regulations such as the Minimum Occupation Period. However, they are priced at about 20% lower than private condos within the same location.

Good afternoon,

If you are purchasing under single scheme, you are only eligible for resale HDB unit. For the purchase of new EC, you need to purchase with your spouse.

Hi Shumin,

I want to highlight to you that you are not eligible to apply for a new EC under your sole name if you're Single. You will need to jointly purchase it with another Single who is above aged 35.

And if you're married, you cannot purchase a HDB flat under Single Scheme. You will need to include your spouse in the application, be it as co-owner or an essential occupier.
