Will there be any time bar for buying resale flat after I sell our 4rm flat after divorce? Can I buy under single status after that as my son is only 19? Can anyone tell me how long it takes to finalise uncontested divorce and how much legal fees (private lawyer) roughly will it costs me? As divorce is a truly traumatic enough, I am so afraid that I would be further burdened with these fees (especially hidden costs).

Morning Mrs. Lee,

There is no time bar to purchase resale HDB unit. However, to purchase under single scheme, you have to be SC, above the age of 35. Alternatively, if you have the care and control of your child, you can choose to purchase under Public scheme, with your child as occupier.
For divorce cases, the duration required to finalize it defer based on case to case basis. Not able to get along, failure of care, physical abuse or adultery have different sets of requirements. As for the charges, standard divorce case should cost around $2.8k up.

    Thank you very much, Mike Lim. Hope all goes well. Though one has a sea of friends, when one goes through divorce or financial problems, you realise you are all alone to face them.
