Property prices (valuation and asking COV) will depend on location (nearness to MRT, amenties, good schools etc) and age of property. Hence, you can get slightly different range depending on which part of Ang Mo Kio.
Generally, for 5-room units less than 10 years old in Ang Mo Kio, valuations itself will already exceed your budget of $500k. However, older units further away from MRT, you might still be able to get a unit around your budget. For recent transacted prices in Ang Mo Kio, you can also go to HDB's website and look under recent transacted prices to get a better understanding of prices in the area you are keen.
For your budget, $500k for 5-room in Bukit Panjang should give you some good options too. :)
