Will be taking up a bank loan for a resale HDB. Been told that i have to engage a conveyancing lawyer, cannot get HDB to represent. Is this true? And I was told the fees will come up to 2.5k or more. Why is this such a big difference from just a few hundred if getting HDB to represent? Am I being smoked by my agent and banker? Pls help. Tks.

Morning,

In taking bank loan, HDB lawyer will not be able to represent you. Depending on the amount of loan that you are getting, the bank will subsidise part or all the legal fee.

Hi,

You might want to try to get the bank to help to subsidize your legal fees or part of it. You can also try to source for lawyers which charge lesser. Unfortunately, hdb will not represent you unless you are taking hdb loan.

Hi M,

Your agent or banker didn't smoke you. It's true.

If you use bank loan, you will have to engage private lawyer. Only if you using HDB loan, then you may get HDB to act for you.

Please feel free to drop me an email or call me directly for further discussion, or we can also meet up at your convenient time and place.

Thank you & Best Regards
