Good afternoon,

you have to dispose off your interest in private property be it in singapore or malaysia and observe 30 months waiting period before you are eligible to apply for BTO or new EC.

If you wish to purchase a resale HDB up to 4rm flat, you have to do the same but waiting period will be 15 months.

Hi HK,

1) HDB has been crystal clear over the policy that those who own private property locally and overseas are not eligible to buy HDB flats.
2) Since you intend to apply for a BTO, you will have to observe a 30-month wait-out period after selling your private property.
3) If you want to buy a resale HDB flat, you will still have to observe a 15-month wait-out period after selling your private property.
4) Note that you won't be eligible for any grants and HDB loans for buying a resale HDB flat by observing the 15-month wait-out period.
5) You have to observe a 30-month wait-out period in order to be eligible for grants and HDB loans for buying a resale HDB flat.

Dear Miss,

Your boyfriend and you will be ineligible to apply for BTO currently as you will be required to wait out for a 30 months period after relinquishing your ownership in the Malaysia condo before both of you are eligible to apply. For resale HDB purchases, the waiting period will be 15 months. Hope this helps.

My Answer with regards to your Question:

You (and anyone else in your BTO application) must also not own any other property, HDB or private, locally or overseas.

If you currently own private property, you’ll need to sell off your property at least 30 months before you apply for your BTO.

If you currently own an HDB flat, you must dispose of the flat within 6 months of the completion of your BTO flat.

I regret to inform you that you're not eligible to apply for a BTO flat, as you current own an overseas private property.

You will need to sell the property off, then serve a wait-out period of 30 months before you're eligible to apply for a BTO.

If you feel that 30 months is too long a wait, you may wish to consider going for resale flats. This will cut short the time by half, i.e 15 months.
