What should I look out for if I am buying a property for the first time?

FIrst of all, here’s wishing you and your family a very happy lunar new year and also congrats on your plans in getting your first home!
Actually when it comes to buying a house, there are really many many things to look at. I am not making it up or trying to make it sound scary. There are many aspects to look into. FIrst of all will be the financing and second will be the timeline. After that it will also be the choosing of the unit after viewings. And that alone, has many points of considerations. We also need to factor in the resellability of the house in the future. And also what is the future capital gain potential of the house. There is something that is very real and that is really not every house in Singapore can buy.
A lot of clients often start out by telling me that they will want to stay in the house forever and it will be their last house, when I speak to them about future planning. But seriously we will never be able to predict what will happen tomorrow. Just one year ago, the word ‘COVID’ didn’t seem to be so scary after all, but look at all the precautions that we are taking now. So I always say, when we plan, we need to plan as if we want to sell the house tomorrow, but it is our choice to stay there forever. With this planning in mind, chances of making a wrong choice will be kept to a minimum.
