What is the policy rationale for hdb to make previous private property owners wait 30 months before applying for bto flats? For retirees who had not purchase flat directly from hdb before and have limited resources, why forbid them to purchase bto flats? Thank you in advance!

Hi,

BTO flats are mainly catered for first timers young couples to own their first property, and allow them to build a family.

Private property owners are deemed to be well-off, and should not be added into the already over-subscribed demand for BTO flats, making it harder for young couples to get a flat.

Retirees like yourself can cash out your private property, downgrade to a resale HDB flat, and use the excess cash for your retirement.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.
