There is no standard guide on which is better option as it really boils down to individual's preference. In general, we say that apartments, due to its smaller site which translates to lower number of dwellings, gives a more exclusive feel to the residents therefore appeal to those who prefer quietness of the environment and less neighbours.

Hi,

1) Technically, an apartment is a private condo land size less than 4,000 sqm. A private condo's land size must be larger than 4,000 sqm to be classified as a condo.
2) The facilities between them are largely dependent on how a developer planned to build. An apartment can also have a 50m lap pool and a good gym size.
3) To select a property does not rely on whether it is an apartment or a condo, there are lots of other factors that need to consider.

Note that the above does not include walk-up apartment that is under another category.

In my opinion, condo is a better option if it is for a family with kids. This is because generally condo will have better facilities and the site area will be bigger. In the long run, condo is also easier to maintain as there are more owners who will be sharing the maintenance and upgrading costs.
