We wish to buy an EC est. TOP 2021, but can only afford most of the 20% downpayment by taking bridging loan. Does it mean if I book now, I have to sell my home within 6 months and rent until TOP, i.e. rent or stay somewhere for about 3 years?

Hi,

If you need the sale proceeds from the current hdb to fund the downpayment, yes you have to sell off the home first and rent in the interim. Bridging loan can't be used for the downpayment for under construction property purchase.

To clear a misconception, bridging loan cannot be used for the downpayment for any under construction property (new launch EC / condo). If you need additional funds to finance the 20% down payment ,you may have to sell off the home first and rent somewhere meanwhile.

Hi There. In order to take bridging loan for your EC. You will need a HBDB option to take bridging loan. Means you will need to sell off your hdb now and rent or stay elsewhere till project TOP. How about considering resale condo or brand new condo that is going to TOP soon?

I am afraid you have been ill-advised. You are not able to take up a bridging loan and use is as part of the downpayment.

Based on your brief description, it is highly likely that you will need to sell off your existing house in order to fund your next purchase.

But, do not worry, it can be done with proper timeline planning, and you may not need to rent a place for the next 3 years.
