Good afternoon,

Unfortunately no, single Singaporean PR cannot purchase HDB on their own name, have to purchase as a married couple. This means the condo has to be sold within 6 months of getting the resale HDB. Your wife can purchase private property on her sole name no issue, perhaps a 1 or 2 bedroom condo as investment.

Hello,

So sorry, a Singaporean PR cannot buy HDB alone, and you also considered a family unit. You are unable to purchase a HDB alone even if you become a Singaporean and still married.

Your wife can consider to buy a condo unit to stay in (good thing is she won't be charged ABSD) as she don't own any residential property at the moment.

Alternatively, you also can consider industrial property for investment (rental yield are quite attractive as well)

Hi Ranjit,
A SPR family must be of 3 years standing if they want to buy HDB. SPR singles cannot buy HDB. So, in your case, since you own a condo, you or your spouse cannot buy a HDB flat. However, since HDB is not cheap these days, you may want to buy a smaller private apartment or condo as a form of investment if you have sufficient funds. Small condos start from around 700k onwards. Unfortunately, SPR cannot own both HDB and private residential properties in Singapore concurrently as well as they are unable to purchase HDB under own name. You are able to purchase a resale HDB 15 months after disposing your existing condo if you are under 55 years old, otherwise you can purchase a.4 room flat or smaller unit immediately after selling your condo. Should you or your wife convert into a Singapore Citizen, the 15 months window period also applies.

Good evening Ranjit,

you have to be included into the HDB's ownership under public scheme as both of you are married. Having said that, if you are below 55 years old, both of you will not be eligible to purchase a resale HDB due to the latest cooling measures as well.
