We are looking to buy a property. 1st time buyer couple (Sporean/SPR). Option 1. Condo. Option 2. HDB Executive Mansionette in Tampines area. Option 3. EC/DBSS. We like big space hence EM option. Is this a good time to buy resale at all? Or should the $$ be well spent on a new condo/HDB Premium? Being 1st timer, is it silly to get a resale? We don't live in Spore currently but would love to own some sort of property & eventually move back someday. Any advice truly appreciated.

Hi,

Being a first timer, buying new HDB is likely to be the easiest on the pocket and as a profit-guaranteed as long as you don't mind the waiting time and not too particular about location. However, do note that it also has the most no. of attached strings such as minimum occupation period of 5 years etc.

On what would be most suitable for you and your significant other would greatly depend on:
1) How soon you need the place?
2) How long you intend to own the place?
3) How much are you willing to pay for the place (downpayment and subsequent monthly repayment)?
4) How important it is to be close to work, parents, good schools etc.
